The suburb of Campbellfield is located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is approximately 16 km north of the central business district of Melbourne.
Campbellfield is bounded by the Hume Highway and Barry Road in the west, the Merri Creek in the east, Mahoneys Road in the south, and the Metropolitan Ring Road in the north. The suburb covers an area of 6.4 square kilometers.
The suburb was named after John Campbell, who arrived in Victoria in 1836 and became a wealthy pastoralist. The area was initially used for grazing, and in the 1950s and 1960s, it became an industrial hub, especially for manufacturing and distribution companies. Today, the suburb is home to a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
The population of Campbellfield, according to the 2016 census, was 5,083. Most of the residents in the suburb are employed in trades, labor, and machinery operations.
The suburb is home to the Campbellfield Plaza, which is a shopping center with a range of retail shops and amenities, including supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, and health services. There are also several schools in the area, including the Campbellfield Heights Primary School and the Broadmeadows Primary School.
Campbellfield is well-connected to other parts of Melbourne, with easy access to major roads such as the Hume Highway, Metropolitan Ring Road, and Western Ring Road. There are also bus services to nearby suburbs and train services from the Broadmeadows station, which is located approximately 3 km south of Campbellfield.
